The things I could tell you

Kind of got off my groove there last week. I'm still a bit reluctant to write about my everyday life -- well, OK, just this once.

I'm getting two of my wisdom teeth out on Friday. Went in to see the oral surgeon yesterday because one was inflamed and swollen, and I was just sick enough of the pain to go in, even though I really can't afford it. After a grainy 80s informational video about how all anesthetic poses the risk of killing me, the doctor comes in and asks me, "What should I look at?" I tell him my wisdom teeth on the left side. He shoves a tongue depressor against my cheek, takes one look and goes, "Oh, those will both have to come out, you don't have room for those." Yeah, and the fact that one has a crown half rotted off by a cavity and the other has a huge lump of swollen gum half covering it isn't a factor.

So by the time I left, I had prescriptions for amoxicillin, ibuprofen and hydrocodone (Vicodin -- yeah, baby, I get the GOOD shit), and a $400 bill. Sigh. Wish I'd asked about there being no dental insurance benefit before I took this job. I took my dad's offer to loan it to me. I'm good for it.

That was yesterday. Today I'm picking up a new prescription, medtronidazole. It's a different antibiotic, most commonly given to women for yeast infections. (Sancus thinks maybe the dentist was confused about my gender. I asked whether he thought I should have whipped it out on the exam chair.)

Reason being, I popped one of the amoxicillins on a mostly-empty stomach, and had wicked diarrhea the rest of the workday. I mean, I get coffee shits sometimes, but this was like a colonic without the pipe up my ass. I called the dentist about it, he dropped another prescription on me. I'm going in later to pick it up.

So today I'm up early (10:00 is early when your shift starts at 2:30) feeling rather good about myself. Maybe I just needed to get all that crap out.

I meant the post. Think I should write about my life more often?

Gonna have to get my wisdom teeth taken out soon myself. Nothing quite like the feeling of chewing on something and having your gum pop out a load of pus.

And I thought smelling amoxicillin in my piss was foul. No, i ended up not getting the Flagyl. Eating something with the pills works well.

Tomorrow I get 'em out.

When I was about 20 I had to get 5 teeth pulled. 3 wisdom and 2 random extra teeth because apparently I am a mutant. I still have 2 wisdom teeth lodged into one socket on the right side of my mouth that need to get yanked. I am not thrilled about this which is why they have sat there for 10 years.

Been ther, done that. What will really blow your mind is that the anethstetic they usually use has a great "Time Travel" effect. One second you're chatting with the cute technician as she puts it in your IV, the next you're waking up groggy, blearey eyed, and mumbling through a mouth full of cotton balls to a 500 pound nurse about how you really gotta take a Piss......

Good luck!
