Weebl tells Samsung how it’s done
Jonti Picking, the rarely referenced real name of Weebl, has an interview on Samsung.com, about how a daft English guy making Flash toons about mumbling wobbly egg-things can lead to everyone from MTV to makers of toast spread beating down his door for business.
Only in Kenya!
weebl and skoo ride again!
Tokyo Godfathers
Got back from Austin again — more watching movies with Mark. This one was his idea, but for once, we didn’t go to the Drafthouse. We went to the Dobie Theater instead.
They had a one-week only showing of Tokyo Godfathers. Great flick, if you’re patient enough to read subtitled Japanese anime. Another triumph of great writing, loosely based on the old John Wayne/John Ford western “Three Godfathers,” and great art direction, led by Nobutaka Ike and Mad House, headed by project director Satoshi Kon. (And if you’re not a huge fan of feature-film Japanese animation, those names should mean nothing.)
“Hey Ya, Charlie Brown”
You crazy bitch! That was MY fruit!
More “Strategy Guide” madness, now at Newgrounds, so you don’t hammer the bandwidth at Needle’s own site. This time Guido plays Bubble Bobble with his kid sister.
More from Alphaville Herald
Remember the story I did about the Alphaville Herald? The guy who was basically running a subversive underground-type site for The Sims Online, name of Urizenus?
Turns out, as The Independent reports, Urizenus’ player is a philosophy professor doing research for a book.
Edit: Well, I’m a moron. The old Salon article I referenced way back when said he was a prof in the lead graph. Durr.
Ted Nugent vs. the chainsaw
(Shamelessly stolen from GBS on the SomethingAwful forums, which I’m trying not to make a habit.)
Ted Nugent opened a gash in his knee with a chainsaw, requiring stitches. What’s funny as hell is that the guy has his own message board, and responded to fans concerned for his well-being:
dammit my friends, PLEAZE use your head better than this numbnut Micheal Jackson like dorkboy does!! sheeeesh!! had the damn kevlar chaps IN MY FKN HANDS this morn but NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo…..tuffguy doesnt put em on. just cuttin dwn one stinkin tree with a 36″ Stihl monster for the tribe. thats all it takes!! gashed the livin shit outta my L knee was bad enuf but my fkn heart bout shutdown in the ambulance. Fuck You, Adam West
So I drive down to Austin to see Adam West live at the Alamo Drafthouse, where they’re playing the 1966 “Batman” movie. Hook up with friends Mark and Elan and head downtown. Mark gets a parking spot less than a block away, and is euphoric.
It would be the only time all night any of us felt that way.
