Meet the Smashenburns rss

UPN’s foray into the after-hours “adult” animation craze on cable has Game Over, a sitcom based on the off-screen lives of video game characters coming… sometime. For some ungodly reason, they got Lucy Liu playing the mom. Patrick Warburton (David Puddy on “Seinfeld”) is the dad.

It’s produced by Carsey-Werner, who did the Cosby Show, with a new partner, Mandabach. Promo video is here.

Some of you RPG players might be able to use this for practical purposes.

Fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin’ world go ’round rss

Like big butts, and you cannot lie? Check out BadonkaDate!

Hey guys! Okay, let’s get it out of the way — I’m a big girl, but I love to work out, eat healthy and I love Taco Bell! I love a man who knows how to treat a big girl right – not just slap her ass and run away.

Butts are funny.

[sancus] “No longer are guys looking for waif models – they’re looking for something to rest a 40oz on.”

[sancus] has moderation ever occurred to these people? :p

[J.] ever try and set a beer on a bean bag?

Rock Over London, Rock on Chicago rss

Wesley Willis, RIP.

This is one of the things you point out if you’re on the Intarweb and want to sound cool. This guy has to be the most famous homeless enormous lunatic ever to walk the earth and sell albums. But you might be able to think of some more if you try.

Sadly, I never met the man. His biggest fan and music publisher, Jello Biafra, wrote a brief obituary. Excerpt:

There will never be another.

As I got to know Wes, what really struck me was his sheer will power, his unrelenting drive to succeed and over come his horrifically poor background, child abuse, racism, chronic schizophrenia and obesity among other things. He was the most courageous person I have ever known. Yet through it all he had such a deep, all-encompassing love of life. Little things, big things.

He loved bus rides. He loved watching trains. He loved writing songs about how much he loved his friends. He loved travelling to new towns so he could headbutt new friends. Is there any band he saw that escaped being in their own song about how much he loved their show? He was so warm, so sweet, so giving. He could be a handful when he came to visit; but as soon as he left, we’d miss him immediately.

As his long time friend Dennis Cooper said, “No More Demons.” The voices in Wesley’s head can’t yell at him and put him down any more.

The new album, Greatest Hits 3, had the following songs listed:

George Bush is a Stupid Asshole
Osama Bin Laden
Michael Jackson
Look Out For The Turd Burglar
Get Your Brains Splattered
I’m Hoo Riding on You
Thou shallt Not Kill
Mothra

Alternative Tentacles’ Web site is under heavy traffic due to SomethingAwful and Slashdot traffic, so be nice.

Matrix: Revolutions spoilers (?) rss

Here.

Could be complete BS, but lends some possibility to the plot of Matrix Online (though I’m still not clear on what you’re supposed to DO, or WHY.)

Musical interlude: Junior/Senior “Move Your Feet” rss

First, download the video. Ignore the squirrel and the “Cheers” music, just download that thing.

Then watch and decide if it rules, or rather is extremely gay. (Not that being gay would be bad.)

Leave it to the Gondry video for “Fell In Love With A Girl” to make everyone fall in love with fatbit animation again. Nice thing about it is that you can resize this as big as you like, and you don’t lose any image quality.

No PK in Lineage 2? Nah, just Shadowbane. rss

Am I too transparent when I gleefully point out posts like this?

Subject: Remember this game is NOT about PK, its about PvP and GvG. That’s what Shadowbane is – PK.

If you’re looking for random slaughter, no, this won’t be the game for you.
If your looking to fight with REASON behind it, this would be.

Why can’t I be Stephen Glass? rss

Stephen Glass is on 60 Minutes right now. For years, this guy was making up stories for The New Republic and a bazillion other publications, and getting paid in five or six figures.

Now he’s got a book out, which is admittedly fiction. Some of the publications he used to write for are blasting it.

In the five years he’s been out of sight, he’s got a law degree at Georgetown and has been in therapy — which basically means he feels real bad about it all and won’t ever do it again. And though his book isn’t selling well, he supposedly got a six-figure advance.

Here’s where I might do a whole piece about how important it is to be truthful and trustworthy. But in a world where so few people seem to care about the truth, at least among the few who still read magazines on a regular basis, it’s so damned easy to be cynical about it.

Then again, 23 years ago, Washington Post reporter Janet Cooke basically got her ass handed to her after making up a story about a mythical 8-year-old heroin addict. “Jimmy’s World” was total fiction, but the Post pushed it for a Pulitzer Prize.

Then they found out it was fake, and Cooke never got a job reporting again. The above article said she supposedly re-emerged in 1996 to sell a story to GQ for $1.5 million.

The moral of the story? If you’re going to be a liar, do it in bulk. Or get into PR.

Heh, Warcry. rss

Well, I did quit there for good reasons. This just shows why.

Today at Warcry we bring unfortunate tidings as well as good. On one hand, we have made the difficult decision to close our Shadowbane and Planetside sites. On the other hand, we would like to also announce the opening of our Earth and Beyond and Jumpgate sites!

Oh well. And there shall come soft rains, and the rush of the wind.
